Native American Indians
While the origin of Native American Indians is still a subject of great debate, several researchers have identified possible links between Native Americans and people from central Asia and from the Altai region.
There are many articles on the subject, such as the National Geographic News article "Is This Russian Landscape the Birthplace of Native Americans? Mountainous region of Siberia gave rise to New World peoples, study says."; the National Geographic article "Great Surprise"—Native Americans Have West Eurasian Origins", or the article "Penn research finds genetic link between Native Americans, Russian region".
Regardless of your beliefs or opinions on the subject, many visitors in Mongolia will find some undeniable similarities between the two cultures; ranging from the Shamanistic rituals and spiritual beliefs of "Guardian-Spirits", heavenly gods, mountain gods, other gods of nature; to the fact that in many parts of Mongolia, people still live in teepees that look remarkably similar to the ones used by the Native Americans.
